“The process of change requires courage and practical work”

— The CSI Team

While it is true that excellent science can be produced in unhealthy psychosocial environments, we believe that the scientists who succeed there do so in spite of their environment, not because of it. We ask ourselves, how many new perspectives and innovative ideas are we losing as a scientific collective by not including well-being and mental health skills in our scientific working environments?

We at CSI believe that excluding well-being and mental health skills from the scientific process leads to significant losses in innovation, creativity, and new perspectives.

By not prioritizing well-being and mental health, the scientific community may be losing countless innovative ideas that could stem from more creative, energized, and collaborative minds. We at CSI take a practical approach to including well-being and mental health skills in the scientific process.

By working within and together with our community, we have designed and run interactive workshops on mental health. We invite you to co-create with us!

Module Format

“Select the modules relevant to you,
we cover 3 topics during 1 hour”

This hour-long workshop format includes reflective practices, live anonymous polling, and small group discussion. After the workshop, you will receive a PDF of the slides and the polling results as discussion tools for your team going forward. We can tailor the polls to reflect specific discussion areas relevant to you.

Upon request we can create new modules on topics covered in our Seminar Series

Module: Stress & Burnout

Join us for an insightful workshop on Stress and Burnout, where we'll explore the body's natural stress response and how it impacts our health. Learn why balancing periods of stress with intentional rest is crucial for long-term well-being. We'll dive into the stages of burnout, from early warning signs to more profound fatigue, and discuss strategies to prevent and recover. You'll also discover the many types of rest—physical, mental, emotional, and beyond—and how each plays a vital role in recharging mind and body. Take the first step toward restoring balance and building resilience!

Module: Imposter Syndrome

Join us for a transformative workshop on Imposter Syndrome, a common experience where individuals feel undeserving of their achievements despite clear evidence of success. We’ll explore how many cope by overworking, doubting our abilities, or fearing failure. Learn practical strategies to resolve these feelings and develop healthier relationships with your success. Discover when Imposter Syndrome is most likely to arise—during new challenges, promotions, or changes—and identify key thought patterns like self-doubt and perfectionism. Through exercises in re-framing these thoughts, you’ll build confidence and embrace your accomplishments with pride.

Module: Boundary Setting

Join us for an empowering workshop on Boundary Setting, designed to help you create healthy limits that protect your time, energy, and emotional well-being. We'll explore the purpose of boundaries—to foster self-respect and improve relationships—and the many types, including physical, emotional, mental, and time boundaries. Learn when to set boundaries, and discover how to use Non-Violent Communication (NVC) as a compassionate tool to express your needs clearly and respectfully. Gain the confidence to assert your boundaries while maintaining harmony with others.

Module: Psychological Safety at Work

Join us for a workshop on Psychological Safety at Work, a critical element in creating open, supportive environments where employees feel safe to share ideas, take risks, and make mistakes without fear of judgment. Discover why psychological safety fosters trust, collaboration, and innovation. We’ll explore its four stages: inclusion safety, learner safety, contributor safety, and challenger safety, and how they promote individual and collective growth. Learn how psychological safety enhances well-being and mental health and drives scientific excellence in academic settings by empowering creativity, diversity of thought, and productive teamwork.

Deep Reflection Format

“Work in depth on one topic for 1 hour”

This hour-long workshop format includes reflective practices, live anonymous polling, and small group discussion. After the workshop, you will receive a PDF of the slides and the polling results as discussion tools for your team going forward.
