Well-being and mental health skills
are human rights
&
of monumental importance to
scientific excellence
We have a Dream
We have a Dream, of a scientific community where asking questions to learn, never need to be prefaced - with an apology - for asking a “stupid question”
We have a Dream, of a scientific community where talking in front of our peers fills us with excitement and joy for the opportunity to develop our research together with others, not anxiety and fear for being judged and being “wrong”
We have a Dream, of a scientific community where rejections in publishing or grant applications are followed by comfort, support and help from our peers, where we lift each other up to succeed - and do not suffer in silence alone
We have a Dream, of a scientific community where scientific excellence is compatible with work-life harmony, not overtime and burnout
We have a Dream, of a scientific community where we feel like we belong, where we feel at home, never as imposters - standing alone
We have a Dream, of a scientific community where we feel valued, never as disposable short-term employees that are left to drift in the wind when contracts ends
We have a Dream, of a scientific community where well-being and mental health skills are treated as human rights and we come together to help and to serve each other
This is Our Dream
